Appointment Policy
We offer appointments from 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday and 9am-12pm on Saturdays. We recommend that you schedule an appointment with your preferred veterinarian for consistency of care. However, all of our veterinarians have access to your pet’s records and can assist you if your preferred veterinarian is unavailable. You can call during regular office hours to schedule an appointment or request an appointment from your private online Pet Portal.

Drop-Off Policy

Amherst offers drop-off appointments for routine examinations and problems Monday thru Friday. Call to speak with one of our Receptionists to see if this is an option for your pet’s needs. The doctor will examine your pet and call you to discuss your pet’s history. You can pick-up any time after you speak with a doctor. There is no additional charge for drop off service. You will be asked to fill out a drop off form. For your convenience, you may click on the link, print it out and have it filled out when you arrive.

Overnight Patients

Veterinarians and others are on call should their skills be required. If your pet needs to spend the night, you can be sure that our dedicated staff will be there for all of his/her needs.

Emergencies

Our facilities and staff allows us to provide established clients with 24 hour emergency services. If your pet has an emergency at any time of the day, we’ll be here for you. If the emergengy is after business hours call our answering service at 1-888-400-9128 or call our office number and the message will tell you how to reach the answering service.

Pre-Surgical Policy
We offer routine surgeries and dental cleanings Monday thru Friday. All surgical patients must be current on vaccinations and must have been examined by an Amherst Animal Hospital veterinarian within the last year.

Food should be withheld the night before surgery after midnight. Water may be consumed during the night, but should be withheld the morning of surgery.

We recommend routine pre-surgical bloodwork to screen for anesthetic risks. The bloodwork performed on the day of the surgery.

Your pet must be dropped off between 7:30–9:00 am. Pets that come in for a neuter, a dental cleaning, or many other routine surgeries may be able to go home the same day after 5pm. Pets that come in for spays or other, more complex surgeries can be picked up after 10am the next day—ask the Client Care Specialist when scheduling to be sure.

Payment Policy
Providing your pet with exceptional health care. It is our opinion, however, that veterinary care in general, and veterinary care at Amherst Animal Hospital, in particular, is the best value in health care today.

Payment is due at the time services are rendered. If your pet is admitted to the hospital, the veterinarian may ask you to leave a deposit (usually the amount of the estimated charges for the first twenty-four hours). Feel free to ask for an estimate of charges at anytime.

We make every effort to make sure all fees are fair and reasonable and you are encouraged to discuss charges before services are rendered.

We accept Cash, Personal Checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or Care Credit.
